New Orleans, LA – Beginning Monday, October, 8, 2018 the Flood Protection Authority East, which manages and operates the flood protection system in New Orleans, East Jefferson, and St. Bernard Parish, will begin closing a number of flood gates due to the potential impacts of Tropical Storm Michael. Working with our partners at the Port of New Orleans, The New Orleans Public Belt, and DOTD, flood gates along Lake Pontchartrain, the Inner Harbor Navigational Canal, the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, and St. Bernard Parish are set for closing out of an abundance of caution.
