Continuing the Mission
As we continue to do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) our mission remains the same: To ensure the physical and operational integrity of the regional flood risk
management system in southeastern Louisiana as a defense against floods
and storm surge from hurricanes. The Flood Protection Authority-East remains vigilant through this turbulent time and we ensure residents the flood protection system will continue to be maintained to the highest level federally mandated.
We have implemented a number of changes to our policies and procedures to ensure our employees safety while we maintain the integrity of the flood defense system.
All Flood Protection Authority East Facilities are closed due to the existing thread of the spread of COVID-19.
Due to COVID-19 and having employees work remotely, the Levee Safety Permit processing may require more time. The Flood Protection Authority – East is limiting all Levee Safety Permit support to phone, mail, email, and through our online permit system until health concerns are normalized. No office appointments are available at this time.
Social Distancing: A directive from the U.S. Government and Gov. John Bel Edwards states in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus we are to avoid groups of more than 10 people in any space along with a distance of 6ft. or more within in that space.
There is to only be one employee per FPA-East vehicle during this outbreak. We asked employees to wipe the interior of the vehicle with disinfectant upon checking the vehicle out and wipe it down upon returning the vehicle for the day. That includes all heavy equipment vehicles.
