Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East Bank Board of Commissioners
Pursuant to La. R.S. 38:330.1 et seq, notice is hereby given that applications are being accepted from persons interested in serving on the Board of Commissioners for the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East Bank (“SLFPA-E”). Nine members serve on the Board of Commissioners. A Nominating Committee comprised of representatives of civic, professional and academic organizations reviews applications and recommends individuals for appointment by the Governor and confirmation by the Senate. The Nominating Committee is comprised of representatives from the following organizations: Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana, Council for a Better Louisiana, Louisiana Geological Survey, Association of State Floodplain Managers, National Society of Black Engineers, UNO College of Engineering, Tulane University School of Science & Engineering, Southern University College of Engineering, LSU College of Engineering, Louisiana Engineering Society, and American Society of Civil Engineers.

Positions:
The Nominating Committee is accepting applications for 1 position on the SLFPA-E Board of Commissioners:
- A resident of Orleans Parish; A professional in any discipline other than an Engineer or Scientist to serve a term that commences on July 1, 2025 – July 1, 2029.
Board Requirements:
- Three members shall reside in Orleans Parish on the east side of the Mississippi River within the jurisdiction of SLFPA-E. Two members shall reside in Jefferson Parish on the east side of the Mississippi River. One member shall reside in St. Bernard Parish. Three members shall reside outside of Jefferson, Orleans, or St. Bernard parishes.
- Five members shall be either an engineer or a professional in a related field such as geotechnical, hydrological, or environmental science. At least one of the five members shall be a civil engineer.
- Two members shall be professionals in disciplines other than engineering, geotechnical, hydrological, or environmental science with at least 10 years of professional experience in that discipline.
- Two members shall be at large and can serve with or without technical or professional qualifications.
- A nominating committee shall submit one nominee for each vacancy in #2 above and two nominees for each vacancy in #3 or #4 above to the Governor.
- The Governor shall appoint from the list of nominations.
- Senate confirmation is required.
- Members serve staggered terms.
- Members are prohibited from political activity similar to the Louisiana Board of Ethics.

Current Vacancies:
The Nominating Committee is accepting applications for 2 positions on the SLFPA-E Board of Commissioners:
- 1. A resident who resides in Orleans Parish within the territorial jurisdiction of the authority to
complete a term from July 2, 2026 – July 1, 2030.
Qualifications:
Four members of the board shall be an engineer or a professional in a related field such as geotechnical, hydrological, or environmental science. Of the four members, one member shall be a civil engineer.
Three members of the board shall be a professional, with 10 years of experience, in a discipline other than an engineer or a professional in a related field such as geotechnical, hydrological, or environmental
science.
Two members shall be at large.
Once a new member is appointed, the composition of the Board must meet the residency and occupational qualifications defined above.
